Ugh, this is stupidly hot…
O_O OH—oh my WHOA…
(Photo submitted by themonkeesnews, who wrote: “I found this online…. If only it was real!”)
Peter glares forebodingly up at Mike to warn him against succumbing to Davy’s charms. Of course, he might just want Davy for himself, or there could be a threesome brewing…
I can’t stop staring… and drooling…
I LOVE MY FANDOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!
O_O Holy mother of hotness…
Fic: Le Artiste (Torksmith, PG-13/R)
Author’s note: Written awhile ago, but I don’t think I posted this anywhere. It puts me in the mind of this picture.
Dedicated to inshecried, the artist of the above, and a nod to all the Monkees fanartists who keep the fires of inspiration burning.
_____
It was 4:45 a.m., and Mike was sure his mind was out there in the urban jungle known as Malibu, attempting to hail a cab, perhaps, so it could find its way back home to the skull it had deserted some time back.
Adorable older Torksmith is ADORABLE. This is so great!
Torksmith-Themed Monkees Songs
(This list was originally started in response to an Anon question that we received a while back. To check out that post, clickhere.)
- “You Just May Be The One”
- “Propinquity (I’ve Just Begun to Care)”
- “Papa Gene’s Blues”
- “Nine Times Blue”
- “For Pete’s Sake” (because Peter wrote it and Michael gave it the title)
- “Different Drum”
- “Carlisle Wheeling” *NEW ADDITION!*
Oh oh this is a subject I’ve given much thought to-
“Sunny Girlfriend” Okay, ignore the ‘girl’ part of the title and the female pronouns. Who has a sunnier personality than Peter? and I always thought the ‘book that tells of everybody’s past’ was referring to one of those books of Hindu or Buddhist theology that talk about reincarnation he was always reading.
“Tear the Top Right Off My Head” No gender pronouns, it’s in a country style (not Peter’s usual genre but it is Mike’s hmmm). Peter sings it on ‘Hitting the High Seas’ after Mike left. (there’s a fanfic in there somewhere) and the “hit it Lance” part seems to deliberately echo the “Pick it Luther” line in ‘Papa Gene’s Blues.’
“Calico Girlfriend” Calico colour is similar to blonde, or sandy. Who has hair like that? “Keeper of Men and of shadows, follow us up to the top”? The bit about Providence, Rhode Island at the end- being free in Rhode Island, echos the ‘we’ve got to be free’ lyric in For Pete’s Sake. Also Providence, RI is known as one of the most tolerant cities in America for same sex relationships. Could be a coincidence?
“Tapioca Tundra” Male pronouns kept in. I always have thought this song was about a relationship with a man that is either ended or in the process of ending. Walking away, fading dreams saddened by the news. Saddened by the news of a relationship ending?
oh and a solo Mike song “Release”. Male pronouns kept. The official line is that this is talking to a woman about her breakup but the lyrics seem pretty personal to me. Oh and Peter had a band called ‘Release’ after he left the Monkees (and we theorise, a possible relationship with Mike may have ended.) coincidence? Maybe.
There’s probably a few others I’ve forgotten. Anyway I don’ t say with 100% certainty these are the right interpretations. Just my theories.
Definitely agree with all of this, both NP and testytrue. Given the strong musical bond that Mike and Peter had, if there were feelings developing between them, it seems so natural that the one outlet they’d use to express said feelings is songs. Gotta love it…
(via testytrue)
Symmetry.
It never ceases to amaze us just how many pictures there are of these two eyeing each other all over the place…
(Also, the first one just screams “Papa Bear [Mike], Mama Bear [Peter], and Baby Bear [Davy]”).
